Using File Explorer, HOW do I search for a filename containing a left-parenthesis ""

I understand that the parentheses "" and "" have special meaning in the File Explorer Search field, as do the asterisk "*" and question mark "?". There are also special condition words like "filename:", and "type:".Is there a page that describes ALL of these and what they mean? And more importantly for my question of needing to find a filename containing a parenthesis, what is the method of escape-character searching so that a parenthesis, or even a question mark could be searched for?

    :)

Searching for a string within a filename in File Explorer

I want to search a folder for filenames that contain the word "Committee". When in File Explorer, I type "Committee" into the Search field and hit enter. It finds (highlights in yellow) files that start with "Committee" but not the ones where "Committee"
is embedded in the file name. For example:

    • "Committee-Mission-Roles-and-Responsibilities" = finds it and highlights "Committee" in yellow
    • "19510701ListClubCommitteesReportDirectorsBW" = Lists this file but does not highlight "Committee" in yellow
    • "20150526MinutesBoard" = Lists this file because the word "Committee" is in the text of the file.
Is there a way to do a search that lists only filenames that contain the word "Committee"? I don't want files listed if the word "Committee" is not part of the filename.

    Moved from ( Windows / Windows 10 / Files, folders, & storage )

  3. File manager search parameters - parenthesis and dots.

    Hello all!

It seems like I'm missing something basic here and I have problem finding the answer:

How do I force search parameters in File Explorer in order to match parenthesis or DOT character? Is there any escape character or wildcard?

Picture 1: From the list of files in the directory 'New Folder' I want to extract the files containing (3)

It seems like the parenthesis are ignored. First list shows file without parenthesis.

Picture 2: Similar issue happens to the DOT character. Last file in the results does not contain string '3.'

On Picture 2 ( search for 3. )there is no file 123.12.txt --- Is incorrect output shown in the search-ms:displayname ?

    Picture 3: New Folder contents.

I can't find a reference to the rules of creating these parameters or wildcards.

    Am I doing something wrong?

Using File Explorer, HOW do I search for a filename containing a left-parenthesis ""

search for all files by filename but show result as folders

I want to search for all files with filename contain word e.g. "web"
but show the result of those filenames as the containing folder of those files
so I can move all those folders containing those files..

    e.g.
    file1-web.mp4
    file2-web.mp4

These files above are in separate folders
    e.g.
    folder1
    folder2

The problem is windows search in explorer only shows the results as filenames...
I then need to right click > open file location to be able to move those folders that contain those files..
If select all those files in results and move them, then the containing folders will remain.

Is there any way to show the search result as the containing folders of those filenames?
