  1. Users can't search within their home folder which we made available offline.

As the subject says, our users can't search in their home folder. Our setup is as follows:- all users have their home folder mapped to the U drive. To: \\fs\users$\%USERNAME%- several folders are redirected to the U drive, for example: Desktop, Documents, Favorites, etc.- for notebook users we have a policy that enables Offline Files for \\fs\users$\%USERNAME%The home folder mapping works as expectedThe redirections works as expected. The Offline Files work as expected. When I remove the network from the notebook the files keep available. But while searching in the U drive for the notebook users

Make folder not always available offline that is within a folder that is always available offline

For the ease of this post I will be using AAO as "always available offline".

I have been told by a user that he want an folder to not be AAO within a folder that is AAO. As in, he wants to make a folder AAO go in that folder and untick AAO from a folder in there.

He claims that it has been possible in the past. As I have not found whether it is true or not from searching I decide to post here to get confirmation if it is possible at all and how.

    So again, the problem is:

A folder has been tagged as "always available offline"

    We go in that folder

If we try to untag a folder there is a tick in front of the "always available offline" option and it is grayed out, so we cannot disable it.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

    • I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

    • Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.
That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

Make folder not always available offline that is within a folder that is always available offline

    Hi Oskar,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

We understand that you are trying to disable the
    always available offline
option in the subfolder, keeping the root folder enabled with
always available offline. We appreciate your effort in providing us the detailed information on the post.

We researched on this issue and found that if the root folder is enabled with the
always available offline option, then automatically the subfolder will take the same settings and the option to uncheck/disable the
always available offline will be greyed out.

However, we would suggest you to post your query in
    TechNet
forums, where we have expertise and support professionals who are well equipped with the knowledge on this query to assist you with appropriate details.
