Windows 10: User password for privilege settings

Hi,I want to set up a password for a non-admin user account in my Windows 11 Laptop but just to be able to make admin changes.When the non admin user account tries to install a software, and I'm not at my place I need to provide the admin user PIN to allow the change, with that same PIN they are able to access the admin user if they want to, Can I create a password for them to be able to modify or install any software when I allow it without giving the main admin password?

Thank you for showing interest in Windows 10.

Unfortunately there is no way to see what password you have stored on your account. I would suggest you to contact your brother and check if your brother remembers the password and can help you with it.

The other way is that you reset the password (if you are using a Microsoft account)

Reset your password

If you are using a local account, you may remove the password and set a strong password again by yourself or by consulting your brother. To remove the password, follow the steps below:

• Press Windows Key + R.
• Type control panel and click on Ok.
• On the top right corner, change the view by to large icons.
• Click on User accounts. And then click on manage another account.
• Under the list, select your account and click remove/delete password.

Once the password is deleted, you may go to the same settings to set a new password.

To assist you better, I would like to know whether the accounts are local account or Microsoft account. Are you trying to remove the login password?

If you are trying to remove the login password, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Press windows key + R to open command prompt, and type "netplwiz"
• Uncheck "user must enter user name and password to use this computer", then click "ok"
• Enter your user name and password, then click "ok"
• Restart your computer.

I would like to inform you that it is recommended to activate the password for security reasons.

User Account Control dialog missing Yes button

Problem solved after a lot of fiddling around, by following the solution I linked to above, except:

• To boot into safe mode, I had to press Enter while GRUB was showing (I use a dual-boot system). Just letting it time out with "Windows 10" selected as I usually do would not work, Windows would not boot at all or boot into regular mode.
• In safe mode, I was able to log in as administrator by just leaving the password field empty.
• After resetting the administrator password as suggested, it is no longer empty, Windows changes it to "password", which I luckily found out in a desparate attempt to guess it. I was then able to complete the rest of the steps in the linked article and restore my administrator privileges. Who would have guessed it works like that.
