    Use oem key on new motherboard, but change motherboard.


    I build a pc by my self and buy a oem key on the new motherboard, but that motherboard have problem. I send it to the Asus suppord to fix it, but they change my motherboard to different one and I ask them how to fix this problem. They sak me did I ask the micrsoft suppord yet, I can here get any answer that can help me. thanks

    Motherboard Change and My OEM w10 Key

    If you bought an OEM Windows 10 key and activated it with your Gigabyte motherboard then you will need to buy another key for a new motherboard. (doesn't matter if it is a different make/model or not)

    You may have been better spending a bit more and purchased a retail key.

    I have to change my motherboard and i've got a question,

    I didn't use free w10 upgrade from any previous versions

    I simply have bought a windows 10 Oem Key

    and in this case what should i do, my motherboard (gigabyte) is broken and i don't want to use the same model to replace it

    I might go for a MSI or Asus mb what will happen to my key do i have to buy another key for my new mb?

    Changing motherboard

    You will have to re-install and reactivate Windows if you upgrade the Motherboard, which is a problem if you only have an OEM version of Windows, as New Motherboard is normally interpreted as a 'new' computer device and OEM versions of Windows are not transferrable
    under the terms of the Software Licence.
