Windows 10: USB Bluetooth adapter not recognized correctly

Hello, a while ago I bought a USB Bluetooth adapter for my pc since the previous one I had stopped working. When I got this adapter it simply was not doing anything, I tried everything I could possibly find on the internet so I simply gave up. Now I decided to try again, so I posted on here. I know there is nothing wrong with the adapter, since the previous one I had was working perfectly until it wasn't. Also when I check the device manager instead of the adapter appearing in Bluetooth, it appears as a "Other device", "Bluetooth peripheral device".Also the device is driver free, so it is not

Bluetooth USB Adapter Not Recognizing Devices

The issue you're experiencing might be due to a variety of reasons. It can be a driver issue or corrupted system files.

That being said, please provide the answers to the following for us to be able to learn more about your concern:

• Is your Windows 10 updated?
  
• Have you tried reinstalling your Bluetooth driver?
  
• When did the issue start? What were the changes made before the issue started?
  
• Did your Bluetooth USB adapter recognize the same devices before?

If you haven't tried reinstalling your Bluetooth driver, here's how:

• Right-click Start, then select Device Manager.
  
• Right-click the driver under Bluetooth, then select
  Uninstall.
  
• Restart your laptop to automatically reinstall the drivers. Make sure that you update the driver after re-installation.

In the meantime, you can run the Hardware and Devices, and the Network Adapter Troubleshooters to find and repair problems with your devices, hardware, wireless, and other network adapters.

• Right-click the Start icon, then select Control Panel.
  
• Choose the Large icons option from the View by drop down list found on the upper-right part of the Control Panel window.
  
• Locate then select Troubleshooting.
  
• Click View all from the left pane.
  
• Locate and click Hardware and Devices/Network Adapter to run the troubleshooter then follow the next steps.
  

To make sure that you're not experiencing an account specific issue, kindly
create another administrator account and observe if the
issue will still be present.

Bluetooth USB adapter recommendation

Thanks Denis for your input...I remembered I had another Bluetooth USB Adapter so I tried that. That adapter worked perfectly with the controller. I put the original adapter back in. It worked a lot better than yesterday but not as good as the other Bluetooth USB Adapter. I then saw your post. The computer is almost 5 years old now. I try to check the Device Manager every month or two. I can't even remember the last time I saw a problem there. However, you were right. There was a error there. The error was something like "USB Device not recognized". I found the solution was to first figure out what was causing the error. I then remembered I had bought a new Logitech C920s Pro webcam a couple months ago. I unplugged it and plugged it back in. The error in the Device Manager was now gone. I am still not 100% sure if the problem is completely fixed. I will have to watch things for a few more weeks to make sure.

 

Promate Bluetooth™ 4.0 USB Adapter !

Hello Everyone

I have just bought the above mentioned bluetooth adapter but unfortunately cant manage to connect my bluetooth headset with it (does not find the device in pairing mode, keeps searching)! I have downloaded and installed the latest driver for this device from the promate website. Any suggestions?
