  1. Upgrading Win10 Home (activated) to Pro (not activated)

Hi! I have a Dell laptop running Windows 10 Home activated with a digital license connected to my Microsoft account. I’d like to upgrade to Pro but as I don’t have the money for a new product key I’d like to keep it non-activated. I don’t mind sacrificing personalization features to get BitLocker, RDP, etc.

Unfortunately when I contacted MS support they gave me a “generic key” that should’ve done the upgrade and left Pro non-activated, and when I put it in it asked if I wanted to start the upgrade and upon selecting yes it told me I had an invalid digital license or product key (like the one Windows is currently activated with)! How is that even possible? I got the computer activated from Dell. The key they used to activate it is in the BIOS. There’s no way it can be invalid. Edit: actually I think it meant the one I was typing in. It was a generic key and I guess you’re not allowed to do this exact upgrade anymore.

    What can I do?

Activation options for Win10 with instant clones

We have a secure (no internet access) lab environment setup to test and validate a VMWare VDI deployment of Win10 clients.

Our issue is activation of the Win10 clients as they require re-activation every time we logoff and back on because we are using instant clones.

Does anyone have any suggestions on the best way to resolve this? Here are the options we are considering and issues as we understand them:

    • Setup a KMS server
      • Requires a Volume license, which is doable
      • Documentation says we must have a minimum of 25 hosts, we don' have that in our lab
    • Use our MSDN account
      • No support for Win10 KMS license
      • No support for MKS activation
    • Manually activate each time
      • Gonna spend a lot of time on the phone Upgrading Win10 Home (activated) to Pro (not activated) :(
      • Win10 has no grace period so machines are crippled w/o activation
Anyone have a thought or suggestions? I'm hoping I missed something.

    Thanks

Ok so it took 2 days to reject the MSDN key this time. Note that this is a recent install of win10 from scratch (not upgraded), but ive already used one of the dodgy ebay keys on it which was rejected.

Activate Win10 Enterprise with Upgrade Key

I have a valid lot of upgrade licenses for Windows 10 Enterprise, but the activation agent won't accept it. How do I make it accept it?

I also have valid lot licenses for WinXP Pro Install and Win7 Pro Upgrade.

However, I can't install those OSs -- XP doesn't install on modern hardware, and even when it does it needs software updates before it can install Win7. Then there's the fact that it's just not reasonable to install three OSs to get to the OS I need to run.

I installed Win10 Enterprise 64bit from the "trial" ISO image on Microsoft's website (version 1703, which is the version listed on my license).

However, when I go to activate it, it rejects my Win10 key (0xC004F050). I tried entering my Win7 key to see if that would make it ask for the upgrade key or something, and it gave me another error (0xC004F210).

How do I make it accept my key?
