  3. Any tips for replacing Windows 10 PC with Windows 11?

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

Every PC can serve effectively as long as it meets the minimum requirements.

Here are the minimum system requirements for Windows 11:

    Minimum System Requirements

    • Processor: 1 GHz or faster with at least 2 cores on a compatible 64-bit processor or System on a Chip (SoC).
    • RAM: 4 GB or more.
    • Storage: 64 GB or larger storage device.
    • System Firmware: UEFI, Secure Boot capable.
    • TPM: Trusted Platform Module (TPM) version 2.0.
    • Graphics Card: Compatible with DirectX 12 or later with WDDM 2.0 driver.
    • Display: High definition (720p) display that is greater than 9” diagonally, 8 bits per color channel.
    • Internet Connection: Required for Windows 11 Home edition setup and updates.

    Step-by-Step Upgrade Process

    1. Check Compatibility
      • PC Health Check Tool: Download and run the PC Health Check tool from Microsoft's website to verify if your PC meets the Windows 11 requirements.
    2. Backup Your Data
      • Ensure all important files are backed up using an external storage device or cloud services like OneDrive
    3. Update Windows 10
      • Make sure your current Windows 10 installation is up to date. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates.
    4. Choose Your Upgrade Method
      • Windows Update: If your PC is eligible, you may see an option to upgrade to Windows 11 in Windows Update. Click Download and install
      • Installation Assistant: Download the Windows 11 Installation Assistant from the Microsoft website. Run the tool and follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade.
      • Media Creation Tool: Use this tool to create installation media (USB or DVD) for a clean install or to upgrade multiple devices. Download the tool from the Microsoft website and follow the prompts.
      • ISO File: Download the Windows 11 ISO file from the Microsoft website. Mount the ISO file and run the setup.exe to start the upgrade process.
    5. Install Windows 11
      • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation. You can choose to keep your personal files and apps or perform a clean install.
    6. Post-Installation Steps
      • After installation, check for updates again to ensure all drivers and system updates are installed. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and click Check for updates
      • Reconnect all peripherals and ensure they are functioning correctly. Install any necessary drivers for printers, monitors, and other devices

    Additional Tips

    Do:

    • Use Official Tools: Always use official Microsoft tools for the upgrade process to avoid potential issues.
    • Monitor Performance: After upgrading, monitor your system's performance and address any issues promptly.
    Don’t:

    • Ignore Compatibility Warnings: Installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware can lead to instability and lack of future updates.
    • Skip Backups: Always back up your data before starting the upgrade process to prevent data loss

Please feel free to reach out if you require any additional assistance. I'm here to help!

    Upgrading PC - Data tips

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Thanks for the suggestions and for the time to respond Upgrading PC - Data tips :) Best regards.

And thanks for the tip of that program, I'll have it on my list.
