Windows 10: Unknown folder in C:\

Hello guys, I just bought this new PC that I usually use it for gaming and some programming. Today I was checking my hard disk, and I found this folder in C:\ root. The folder's name is a string of letters and numbers, and its interior contains only .CAB files. Does anyone know what is this? I tried inserting an image, but the uploading always failed for some reason.

Trying to get more space on HDD...found UNKNOWN area?

Ok here is what it says....the <Unknown> area is on the C: root....no sub folder and it is 3.7 gig. I also have a pagefile.sys at 2.5 gig and a hiberfil.sys at 1 gig.

Any suggestions?????

 

C windows installer folder - Delete?

He can do symbolic link redirection and move the files in it to a different location. *Wink
Better try it out in a virtual of first. Just a suggestion.

Like:
First move everything in c:\windows\installer to d:\installercache
Then delete c:\windows\installer folder
Then type this in command mode as admin
mklink /d c:\windows\installer d:\installercache

Removing those installer files is a bad idea. it might prevent you from updating or uninstalling apps.

okay ive done the same thing as you but i cant put the file back into the folder

• Copy nvlddmkm.sys in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\nv_dispi.inf_amd64_5518e59e8d3b48f4\ to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\ and replace the existing one.
