    UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE TRAP BSOD


    Hi


    I am attempting to fix my daughter-in-laws HP Pavilion Laptop which has suddenly started blue screening every 5 minutes after booting to windows.


    Checks carried out so far:

    • Ran disk error check tool
    • Noted she had installed avast free recently so turned that off......no change
    • Opened up laptop and re-seated RAM......no change
    • Used Windows Memory diag tool.......no errors
    • Ran memtest86......no errors
    • Check all drivers in device manager......all up to date.
    • Tried windows updates.........blue screens before completing the following updates:
    1. Feature Update to windows 10, version 20H2
    2. 2021-01 Update for windows 10 version 1909 for x64 based systems KB4589211
    3. Update for removal of Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x6 based systems KB4577586
    4. Cumulative update preview for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8 for windows 10 Version 1909 for x64 KB4601556

    [Windows 10 BSOD] Unexpected Kernel Mode Trap

    Unexpected kernel mode trap BSOD always appears when I try to update Windows 10 or reset the PC.

    I've tried many solutions, such as:

    -Disconnecting external devices

    -Booting in safe mode

    -Memory diagnostic

    -chkdsk

    none of which worked. Any suggestions to this problem would be greatly appreciated, thanks!

    UNEXPECTED KERNEL MODE TRAP BSOD

    unexpected kernel mode trap

    I have trouble with the unexpected kernel mode trap for quite a while. It might began with installing Bitdefender. But I removed it and still have trouble. Most of the time it happens when in Firefox but not always.

    I reduced the kernel dump to 128 but the BSOD still happened but this time outside of Firefox environment.

    What else can I do?
