Windows 10: Unable to upload attachments on Gmail, Whatsapp Web, etc

I am currently having Windows 10 "Version 20H2 OS Build 19042.662". I am having problems attaching files online Gmail, Whatsapp Web, etc. I usually connect to my WiFi network and other devices connected to the same network work just fine. So far I have tried uploading files on Gmail, Whatsapp Web, Windows Mail, and Mailbird but to no effect. I tried uploading with three different browsers- Edge, Firefox, and Chrome. I even cleared browser cache and cookies to see if it would make a difference. But I am still unable to attach files online on my PC.

I tried to follow the given instructions but I couldn't fix the issue. When I tried to update my Windows, I got the following error- "Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later. Error code: 0x80073712".


Even when I tried to turn off the McAfee Firewall, the problem still persists.


How do I solve this issue? It has been pretty tough for me as I cannot attach files easily and is severely affecting my work productivity.

Unable to upload attachments(email, whatsapp web) and Windows Update error 0x80240442

I recently upgraded to Windows 10 Home 64-bit from Windows 8.1 64-bit. It is activated and the build is "Version 10.0 (Build 10240)" as shown when running "winver".

I have encountered a few problems that only happens in Windows 10 and not Windows 8.1. Other computers using the same network but using a different OS does not have these problems. I am using a laptop and connected to the network via wifi.

1.) Windows Update always returns: "There were some problems installing updates, but we'll try again later. If you keep seeing this and want to search the web or contact support for information, this may help: (0x80240442)"

2.) Unable to upload pictures or files through Whatsapp Web. The loading takes forever and eventually stops uploading. This is tried with Firefox and Chrome. Edge asked me to update to 13+ by updating Windows (look at problem 1) and "Open with Internet Explorer"
doesn't support Whatsapp Web.

3.) Unable to upload any attachments in email. This is tried with "Windows Mail App" and is the same with outlook, gmail and a office365 account. The attachments are simply "attached" without any form of loading and after sending the mail, I received a mail
saying: "We weren't able to send this message, so we've put it in your Drafts folder. Before you try sending it again, you can check to see if the address is correct and that no attachments are too large."

The problem persist even when accessing outlook.com, gmail.com and outlook.office365.com in Firefox, Chrome, Edge and Internet Explorer. outlook and office365 result in a forever loading attachment. Gmail on the other hand has a loading bar, but encounter
an error when the bar is about to finish.

4.) A day after I noticed the email attachment problem, I am unable to connect to the internet. Network troubleshooting is unable to fix the problem and says something along the line of Wifi does not have an IP configuration even though IPv4 settings are
set at obtaining IP addresses and DNS automatically. This is solved by manually adding the gateway address. I mention this problem even though it was solved because it might be related to the previous 3 problems.

Things I have tried:

1.) sfc /scannow detects no problem.

2.) Restarting modem and router.

3.) Updating network devices driver. Searching for updates online takes an extremely long time and eventually it says that drivers are already up to date.

4.) Reinstalling Adobe Flash. I read somewhere that it handles uploading stuff in browsers.

Any help will be appreciated. Thank you.

 

Cannot upload and attach files to the gmail account emails

I have windows and Microsoft edge on my Surface. I am unable to download the files attached to the gmails. Likewise, I cannot upload files and attach to the gmail that I want to send.

Any help would be appreciated.

Urr_qasdim,

If you use the web browser on your device, can you access your gmail and view the attachment? You should be able to this way. Still checking into the bug reported by the MVP Joel.

Also, have you tried removing and re-adding the Gmail account. If yes, I would suggest creating a new gmail account and testing that account to see if the issue persists. I do not see this as a Windows Phone issue as I have 2 gmail accounts on my device
(samsung focus) that can display attachments, however more testing is needed.
