Windows 10: Unable to retrieve bitlocker key nor do a fresh Windows 10 install. Help

Equirying on behalf of my partner. She was using a Thinkpad X240 from her workplace running windows 7, which they have now replaced with a newer laptop. They advised that she could now keep the laptop for her own personal use. The laptop has not been used for a number of years now and I am in the process of reviving it. I am faced with a lot of obstacles which leads me to a dead end.I am unable to do a clean windows install, as booting to USB is not an option as the bios is locked out from any changes as the bitlocker key is required. She did approach her works IT department, and oddly enough

Now that I have finally upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 10 will my Windows 8 key work with a fresh install of Windows 10?

 

Bitlocker recovery key retrieval - Help!

My Dell G3 series laptop got ruined as it got coffee all over it but thankfully my hard drive is readable still. I cannot afford to lose that data, its my 3 years of work. Whenever my hard disk is detected, it is asking me for a 48-bit bitlocker key which I never remember setting up. No one is able to help me however i was to able to retrieve the numerical password from cmd for my drive which is known as the "bitlocker identifier". If I provide that to you, will you be able to help me in this situation in unlocking my hard drive? I am unable to do anything over here. Kindly suggest. I logged into my 3 existing Microsoft accounts as well, just in case to check if any key is stored, unfortunately, no recovery keys in any of the accounts. Kindly help me. Thanks

 

Installing Windows 10 using Windows 7 key

Nope, you need to install Windows 10 first and make sure the Windows 7 key is transferred to your Windows account after you've installed Windows 10 (not quite sure how that works). I missed the last step and I could not activate Windows 10 after a re-install... Microsoft seem to have done everything they can to make it a PITA. Also, it's technically too late to do this now anyhow, as the upgrade offer has expired. But KMSPico works quite well...

As for getting rid of Windows, delete the Windows folder.
