Windows 10: Unable to Disable or Fully Uninstall Driver for TouchPad (HP Computer) (Windows 10)

My HP Laptop has a TouchPad which I am unable to disable, model number 15-db0015dx.


I have a USB mouse and am wishing to disable, be it temporary or permanent, my touchpad.

I have done several months of research to no avail.​

Today I figured out how to uninstall the drivers, but they reinstall themselves.​

Please help. Screenshot below for proof.​

I would suggest you to try uninstalling the touchpad driver by following the steps below and check if it helps:

1. Press Windows key + R to open the run command.

2. Type devmgmt.msc and press enter.

3. Expand mice and other pointing devices.

4. Right click on the touchpad driver and uninstall
it.

5. Restart the system.

After uninstalling the touchpad driver and restart the computer, it will automatically re-install generic touchpad driver. However, you can disable the touchpad option from device manager.

I would suggest you to enable the touchpad drivers, restart the computer and then again disable it and check if the issue persists.

If the issue persists, Download and Install the latest touch pad drivers from the manufacturer’s website and check.



You can install previous operating system drivers in compatibility mode if there are no Windows 10 compatible drivers.



Follow these steps:

b) In the search box type “Run programs made for previous versions of Windows” and select it from the list.

d)Select the drivers and
install.



Once you update the latest drivers, try to disable touch pad.

Unable To Fix Touchpad for gaming capability for Windows 10 and Mouse has disappeared On one of the accounts on my computer

Method 1: Run Hardware and Devices Troubleshooter

Follow these steps to run Hardware and Devices troubleshooter:

• Press Windows key + W and type troubleshooting.
• Select Troubleshooting.
• Select View all on the top left corner.
• Click Hardware and Devices.
• Follow the on-screen instruction to run the troubleshooter.

Method 2: Uninstall and reinstall the driver

I suggest you to try uninstall the Touchpad drivers check if it works for you.
Follow the steps to uninstall the Touchpad drivers:

• Press Windows Key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Try to access the device manufacturer's website and download and install the latest chipset and touchpad drivers.

Method 3

If issue still persists, I suggest you to uninstall and reinstall the touchpad drivers in Compatibility mode and check if it works.
Follow the steps to uninstall the touchpad driver:

• Press Windows Key + X key.
• Click on Device Manager.
• Right-click on the Touchpad device listed and click on ‘Uninstall’.
• Select the option to Delete driver software.
• Restart the computer after its uninstalled.

Now download the drivers the manufacturer website and install it in Windows 8.1 compatibility mode. Follow the steps provided below to install the drivers in compatibility mode:

• Right-click on the driver setup file and click on ‘properties’.
• Click on the ‘compatibility’ tab and check the box "Run this program in compatibility mode for” and select Windows 8.1 operating system from the drop down.
• Click on ‘Apply’ and click ‘OK’ and run the file to install it.
