Windows 10: Unable to change Desktop Image

Unable to change Background Image on my laptop after opening any photo on the Photos app. The background does not change even after multiple attempts of changing it

In order to help you better, could you please confirm a couple of things.

• Have you made any changes on the computer prior to the issue?
• Are you referring to desktop background image or lock screen image?

I suggest you to follow the below steps to change the background picture and check if it helps.

• In the search type as ‘Settings’ and click on it.
• Select ‘Personalization’, under ‘Background’ option select as ‘Picture’.
• Under ‘Choose your picture’ select any picture accordingly or you can browse the picture from your computer.

The desktop font color adjusts depending on your background image. Kindly answer some things so we can assist you better on this issue:

• Did the problem start after installing updates?
• Do you get any error messages when customizing your desktop?
• How did you try to change the desktop background?

If you are unable to apply some changes to your desktop on the computer, it's possible there is an issue regarding system files. It would be a good idea to run the System File Checker tool to find and correct problems about system files. You can read more

page. Restart your computer once the scan is complete and check if you will be able to set a different background image. Please try these methods:

• Through Settings:
  • Click on Start.
  • Open Settings.
  • Go to Personalization.
  • Choose the image you want to set as your desktop background.
    
• Through File Explorer:
  • Open File Explorer.
  • Navigate to the location of the image you want to set as desktop background.
  • Right-click on the image then choose Set as desktop background.

I would suggest that you follow the steps mentioned below to change the desktop background picture to your liking.

STEPS:

1. Click on the Start Menu, then locate "Settings".

2. Click on "Personalize'.

3. Once there you can see the options to various other desktop settings on the left menu pane.

4. Click on the one that you want to change and apply changes.
