Windows 10: Unable to access 'Quarantine' or 'Scans' folder in Windows Defender Folder

Hi all, I had Windows Defender pick up a Trojan from a file I downloaded, which I quarantined. However Defender now tells me 'Remediation Incomplete'"Detected: Trojan:Script/Wacatac.H!mlStatus: FailedThis threat or app might not be completely remediated."There are no further actions or options available - last time this happened I had the option to delete the file direct from the Windows Security window.I assume this means it was not able to successfully quarantine or delete the file but the file has been removed from my Downloads folder and doesn't show up in any explorer search of either Do

Format drive mms when trying to access folder

HP Pavilion dv7 trying to access Western Digital 2Tb external
some (more all the time) folders generate a mssg telling to reformat the drive before it can be read correctly. running a 'dir' command through the dos promt shows that the files are still there but windows will not access the folder.

virus scan by norton gave no result other than having to take my keygens back out of quarantine.

the drive has not been dropped/knocked/beaten (yet) or otherwise physically harmed.

files contained on the drive are music, movie, pdf and ms office products either generated by myself or obtained from P2P networks. if it wasn't mine it was virus scanned, no exceptions.

the same folders are inaccessible on different computers.

so this is me throwing my problems out there for help...

How do I delete items quarantined by Windows Defender?

Hi A S Hamid,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Open File Explorer, then on the View menu at the top, temporarily turn on 'Hidden Items'.

Go to this folder and delete the contents of the quarantine folder:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Quarantine

Go to this folder and delete the contents of the Service folder.

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows Defender\Scans\History\Service

That's it, that will remove the quarantined items and their entry from the list in Defender.
