Windows 10: Trying to rescue a corrupted video DVD

This is a DVD-R that I recorded over 10 years ago from live TV. It contains two much-valued science documentaries. When inserted in a player, the disk main menu is displayed normally, and the second programme plays OK. But the first programme, after a lot of disk access chatter, freezes after a few seconds, then proceeds with a lot of long pauses and stuttering in video and sound. I've tried the disk in another player and on a PC and get the same kind of result. The disk surface appears to be in good condition, but I suspect a portion of the recording layer has degraded. I haven't gotteen to this suggestion yet - but, I've shut down half my Extensions and, now, I get the voice of the Youtube videos - but still not the video. Thought this clue might help.

 

Burn pics and videos to DVD

You can also burn pictures and videos to DVD by using the File Explorer. To get started, follow these steps:

• Insert the disc and open the File Explorer.
• Select the files that you want to burn.
• Right-click and send to DVD RW Drive (D.
• Create a disc title.
• Once you are done, click Finish burning.

If you'd prefer to use a third-party software, we suggest that you check
Windows Store for available apps that you can install.
