Windows 10: Trying to reinstall Windows 10 on an old HP

I gave a friend an old HP which had Windows 10 on it. I reinstalled the OS on it before I sent it to him but I forgot the password.We made a flash drive with Windows 10 on it and tried reinstalling again.When it brought up the place where you can delete partitions, he deleted them to start fresh it wouldn't let him install on the largest partition.It seemed to be close to finishing the install, it gave him a blue screen. I don't remember the error code.He then created a .iso file on a dual layer DVD and tried it that way, but that also gave an error.Background:When I had the computer, I had

Unable to access HP Simple Pass to Sign-in to the computer on Windows 10

• Do let us know the make and model of your computer?
• Have you installed HP simple pass software on your computer?

Try the below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to download the latest HP Simple Pass software from the manufacturer's website install it and check if it helps.

Step 2: If you have already installed the software, I suggest you to re-install it and check if the issue persists.

Follow the steps to Access Recovery Manager:

• Press Start button from the keyboard, type Recover Manager.
• Select Recovery Manager from the list when it becomes available. Allow the action to continue, if prompted. The
  HP Recovery Manager opens.
• Click Software program re-installation, Next , select
  HP SimplePass for the listing and then follow the on-screen instructions to reinstall application

[Solved] Windows 10 keeps reinstalling KB3119142

I noticed quite some time ago that KB3119142 (Update for Microsoft Visual C++ 2012 Update 4 Redistributable Package) kept reinstalling itself for some reason. At least once daily. Sometimes up to several times a day. I just ignored it. It didn't seem to be doing any harm. And I figured they'd eventually fix it. Well...days turned into weeks, weeks into months, with no end to the problem in sight. It dragged on unsolved for at least the last few months. Literally reinstalling itself hundreds of(at least a hundred, felt like more) times in that period of time.

So I finally googled it a couple days ago. And just got around to fixing it today. Which appears to have worked. And it couldn't have been easier to do. I feel so stupid to have let it intimidate me for so long.*Oops!

HP Scanner 2400 (old) Not Scanning

In case you can't get the HP driver to work you could at least try VueScan as has been suggested in a previous post. If anything it will verify if your scanner is still working.
