Windows 10: Tried updating Microsoft Defender Mssense agent but it is Failing

I have an Windows 10 Enterprise for Virtual Desktops22H2. I a trying to update the Denfender sense. 1. I tried doing all the required windows update . Still wont update the defender sense to the recommended version 2. Tried updating the KB5005292 still the same Microsoft Update Catalog Any suggestion will be appreciated as it is outdated

Update to Windows Defender (KB4052623) fails - labelled security risk!

I have a laptop running Windows 10 version 20H2. I have just tried to update it, using the normal updating process. A Security Intelligence update KB2267602 downloaded and installed successfully. But the other update offered, an "Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus antimalware platform KB4052623 (Version 4.18.2202.4)" failed. A retry failed. So I ran the Update Troubleshooter and tried again. Failure. I did Disk Cleanup and tried again. Failure. The error code given is 0x80070643. So (both puzzled and curious) I then thought I would look at the Microsoft Update Catalog and perhaps download this update directly and install it. I found it listed, and hit "Download". There are three .exe files. They would not download. And - here is the real reason for my forum post - when I right-clicked to bring up the Firefox browser download info popup, all three files were listed with a warning "File not downloaded: Potential security risk". Eh??? What is going on? I don't have any additional or alternative antivirus software installed, so I'm relying on Windows Defender. I would quite like diagnosis/explanation/solution rather than having to move to the radical step of a system reinstall. What further checks or troubleshooting steps should I take, and in what order?

 

Windows Update Agent

I am working with Windows Update Agent and I have some questions.

1. I want to manually install the patch Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (version 1.325.782.0) but I cannot find a link to download it on the internet. How can I download and install it manually?
   
2. I am using Windows Update Agent API to scan the missing patches on the machine and the patch Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (version 1.325.782.0) is reported as missing while the machine has the latest patch Security Intelligence Update for Microsoft Defender Antivirus - KB2267602 (version 1.353.858.0). My machine is managed by an SCCM server and I use the API to query on it (I try with C++ code and VBS script). Why is API responding with the old patch even if we have the latest patch?

desktop agent tray error message in windows 10

I tried the following suggestion. When I got to step 4, the list provided no checkmarks to uncheck and the icon for Desktop Agent Tray was a checkmark in a yellow circle. nothing happened when I clicked on the yellow circle with the checkmark. the title
on the list was Desktop Agent Tray(2) Clicking on the title opened a title beneath the Desktop Agent Tray (2) which did not have the (2)

the publisher of both titles was CenturyLink Inc and the status for the entry with the (2) was enabled and the status of the other entry was blank. Changing the status to disabled did nothing. the Start up impact was listed as high. There was another
entry under the two Desktop Agent Tray titles There was an icon then Dw20 with a high start up impact. No where was there a place to uncheck or delete. So far the box which lists the error disappears and there seems to be no problem. I just wonder why
it is there,

Desktop Tray Agent is a program used by Qwest to update their installer when setting up DSL (Digital Subscribers Line) based connections to computers. I suggest you to follow the steps below and check for the status:

• Press Windows key + R, type msconfig.
• Go to Startup tab.
• Click on Open Task Manager.
• Uncheck Desktop Agent Tray from the list.
• Click on Apply and OK.
