Windows 10: there is no qmgr*.dat on my computer

There is no qmgr*.dat anywhere on my computer

I am attempting to follow the steps found
hereto reset windows update components. The first step is to stop bits and windows update service, and to delete the file "qmgr*.dat*

Here is my command prompt:

As you can see, at first it could not find it in the directory specified in the microsoft guide. When I attempted to find the directory myself, I found that I have no folder called Application Data in my ProgramData folder. I found
 another post which mentioned that the qmgr.dat might be somewhere else, so I next did the "dir  /s  /a  /b  /p  C:\qmgr*.dat" command, which as you can see resulted in the qmgr.dat file not being found anywhere.

What does this mean? The guide does say to delete this file, but the fact that it didn't exist to begin with makes me dubious as to whether or not I should continue to follow the guide as it is or if there is some deeper problem
that I need to fix first.

The kb article you quote might contain an error. The entry "Application Data" is a junction that actually points back at C:\ProgramData. The folder you're looking for is here:

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader

On my machine it contains some qmgr* files but no qmgr*.dat.

 

Windows 10 Pro, ver 1709, build 16299.192 will not update on KB4093112

Did not help - appears to be the same batch file as I had already run, although the 10Forum version reported:
Successfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache.

Could Not Find C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat

Could Not Find C:\ProgramData\ApplicationData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat

My \Program Data\ does not have \ApplicationData\ sub-Dir but in the C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Network\Downloader\qmgr*.dat appears possibly replaced by qmgr*.db

Could this be so? even significant?

Next step is to try Andre Da Costa's suggestions. At the moment nothing updates, but KB4093112 constantly retries - using mobs of bandwith and computer down-time
