  2. New install Windows 10 (issue solved)

It's good that you're not experiencing any issues. Unfortunately many folks are, a quick Google search will show the same info im offering the OP.

    Heres a couple examples:

    Here

    Here

It's basically what I mentioned above, small issues here and there ,but nothing to end your day.. for the most part.

I know it's anecdotal, but for my experience 95% of the time it's perfectly fine. The issues I've run into wouldn't be enough for me to roll back , but they would be enough (had I not installed it yet) ,to avoid it for another couple weeks which is why I'm suggesting it to the OP

Windows 10 Fall Creators Update problems and complaints
    • Installation problems with the Fall Creators Update
    • Microsoft Edge problems with the Fall Creators Update
    • Drivers problems with the Fall Creators Update
    • Experience problems with the Fall Creators Update
keep in mind, as of recently, the FCU is installed on 5% of devices roughly.....

  3. Error Code 0x8007371c

Excuse me friend, I'll send you the answer you need to your problem, follow the steps.

Well, this error occurs due to corruption within Windows components or services. In this case, I suggest you follow these steps to solve this problem for Windows 10 users.

The update error 0x8007371c often accompanies a message that looks like one of these: ERROR_SMI_PRIMITIVE_INSTALLER_FAILED

SMI primitive installer failed during installation or service ,,,

To resolve error 0x8007371c on Windows 10 PC, try the following solutions. It is not necessary to follow the solutions in sequential order, however doing so may opt for that possibility.

    1. Restart Windows and check for updates

Before proceeding to the actual solutions, we recommend properly restarting your PC for once. This is essential, since many times we simply do not know how long we have not restarted our device. When Windows 10 reloads, go to Settings> Update & Security> Windows
Update and hit Check for updates.

In case you still get this error, try the following suggestions:

    2. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter

Windows Update Troubleshooter is Microsoft's best built-in tool to find and resolve different update-related errors and errors. So you have to use this utility to get rid of 0x8007371c problem. Here's how to use this:

Use Win + I to start the Settings application and choose "Update & Security".

Click the Troubleshooting option available on the left panel.

In the right pane, click on the "Additional troubleshooter" link.

Then click on Windows Update and hit the "Run the troubleshooter" button.

    3. Rename the Software Distribution and Catroot2 folders

If the troubleshooter doesn't resolve the 0x8007371c error, Windows components must have been corrupted in some way. To work around this problem, you must clean up the temporary files that are stored within the Software Distribution and Catroot2 folders. After
clearing your content, try checking for Updates again. You can find the above two folders in these locations: C: \ Windows and C: \ Windows \ System32.

In case the update error 0x8007371c is still not resolved, try renaming these two folders. You will not be able to rename these folders as if they were normal folders, as they are an integral part of the Windows operating system. So, follow these simple steps
    to rename them:

First, open the command prompt with administrator rights.

Run these codes on the console one by one, doing so will stop some essential services.

Don't forget to hit the Enter key after each command:

    net stop Mauser

    net stop cryptSvc

    net stop bits

    net stop msiserver

Copy / paste these two codes separately followed by the Enter key -

ren C: Windows Software Distribution Software Distribution. Old

    ren C: WindowsSystem32catroot2 Catroot2.old

Restart the services that you stopped earlier by running the following codes:

    net start Mauser

    net start cryptic

    net start bits

    net start msiserver

    4. Download and install the standalone package manually

If none of the fixes above resolve the error, manual installation of the recent patch should correct the error 0x8007371c. However, you should be aware of the latest security patches for your current version of Windows 10. You can check for failed updates in
"View update history" on the Windows Update page. Steadfast simplicity, we've compiled a list from the Recent Windows 10 Cumulative Updates Catalog.

Once you have the relevant KB number to look up, use the guide below to download and install it on your device:

First, open the Microsoft Update Catalog.

Paste the KB number noted above and hit Enter. A pop-up list of matching results.

Press the Download button next to the system architecture that your PC currently belongs to.

Click on the link above and the. MSU file will start downloading immediately afterwards.

Once the installation file is downloaded, find the download folder and double click to update the PC.

    5. Boot into safe mode and run Windows Update

The above method works for almost all cases. However, if you are still receiving error 0x8007371c, there is the influence of third parties that is preventing Windows Update from happening normally. To resolve this, you can boot into safe mode with networking.
Doing so will prevent third-party applications from interfering with system files. Here's how to perform a clean boot:

Navigate to the path below -

Settings (Win + I)> Update and security> Recovery

On the adjacent right side, locate and click "Restart Now" under Advanced startup.

When Windows 10 restarts, find the following location:

Choose an option> Troubleshoot> Advanced Options> Startup Settings> Safe Mode with Networking.

    6. Use System Backup or Clean Install

If you had created system backups on the computer, it’s the right time to revert OS to a state where everything was running normally. Learn how to use system restore points in case you have created one in the past. If not, read how to clean installation Windows.
