Windows 10: The Rip CD button is disabled in Windows Media Player 12, Windows 7.

I'm trying to rip some CDs to my music library, but the Rip CD button in Windows Media Player is disabled - grayed out.I've tried changing the output format, in case something happened to my MP3 CODEC or something, but no joy.It says I'm running the latest version: 12.0.7601.24499.Also, the CD information - artist, album name, tracks, etc. - aren't showing up. But I can fill that in manually, if necessary.Any suggestions?

Open Windows Media player

Insert a CD to RIP

The CD should start playing, click the stop button

At the top of that play Window you should see a Rip button, click that

If the CD does not automatically start playing, in Windows Media Player, on the left, click on the CD then click Rip . .

I suggest you to run Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter and check.

Windows Media Player Settings troubleshooter find and fix problems with settings in Windows Media Player.

Steps:

• Press Windows key, type troubleshooting
  and select it.
• Click on View all in the left pane.
• Click onWindows Media Player Settings and follow the onscreen instructions.
