Windows 10: THE MOUSE PAD DOESNT PRESS DOWN BUT YOU HAVE TO TAP IT AND I NEED TO HAVE IT PRESS DOWN

i cant press down the mousepad i can only tap it to work but i need to be able to press it down

XBox One Controller double tapping on D-Pad Right press

I'm using an XBox One controller (its a Phantom White version if that tells you anything) on Windows 10 (most current version). I notice it double taps all of a sudden when I press Right on the D-Pad. It's not just a double tap, but it doesn't do the pause when you hold it down, it just starts scrolling indiscriminately. I am assuming this is a mechanical issue as it does it in every software I use. And it doesn't make sense to me how some system wide Bluetooth or driver issue would cause just a Right tap to cause a problem. I have another controller (DS4 run through DS4Windows; so emulating an XBox controller) that doesn't do this. Any ideas how to fix this? Is it just a connector on the D-Pad that may be worn? The controller is not that old and doesn't get a lot of use.

There is an option to launch Cortana when performing a three-finger tap. It could be possible that something might have happened on your track pad that is triggering the three tap even if you're just doing one. To test this, try using an external mouse and
see if this issue would still occur.

Alternatively, you can check the settings of your track pad and see if the three-tap function is enabled. Check out the steps below:

• Right click on Start
• Select Control Panel
• Under Hardware and Sound, click on Mouse
• Click on the last tab and click Settings
• See if Cortana is enabled on the Three-finger tap option. Uncheck it and click OK.

Please reply: What happens when you try disabling the mouse pad? Do you receive any error message?

You can also disable your mouse pad by following the steps below:

• Press Windows key + X key and click Device Manager.
• Expand the Mice and other pointing devices.
• Right-click on the Mouse driver and click on Disable.
• A prompt will appear, click yes.

I would also suggest you update the driver from the device manager.
