Windows 10: the keyboard on my Gateway Laptop is not working correctly.

I have tried the fixes mentioned in other questions similar to mine. When I start up the laptop, then keyboard does not work. I just get beeps when pressing keys. when I use the touch pad to navigate to "I forgot my pin" it loads up the sign in for Microsoft. I close that dialog box and the keyboard works until I get to the desktop. Once on the desktop it stops working. I have checked the drivers, they are up to date. I have restarted several times. The issue still persists. The touch pad works correctly.I have opened the Device Manager it lists two HID keyboards that are both running correctl

Gateway Desktop keyboard not working after Windows 10 Upgrade

My Gateway FX541S with a Gateway keyboard model KB-0532 was working fine until I upgraded to Windows 10. I realize this is an older PC but the upgrade should not cause the keyboard to stop working. I have attempted to get support from Gateway but there
are no downloads available for the keyboard or the BIOS. I love this computer! Can someone please offer some suggestions? Thank you.

 

laptop keyboard and touchpad not working

Problem: computer starts up normally and goes to the password log-in screen, but nothing happens when I try to enter the password. The computer doesn't appear to see any keystrokes.
Solutions tried:

1. rebooted
2. removed and replaced main battery
3. attached USB keyboard
4. hit Enter key on startup: successful in opening the Advance Options menu, but am unable to take any of the actions because all require that I enter the laptop password
5. looked for an onscreen keyboard, but there isn't one because this isn't a touch screen computer

Why I think this is a Windows issue:

1. the computer recognizes when I hit the Enter key on startup
2. the USB keyboard doesn’t work
3. the keyboard touchpad doesn’t work, but the attached USB mouse DOES work
