The issue of the external monitor repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting after the...

I have set the screen to turn off after 30 minutes, without setting it to sleep. But every time the screen turns off, my computer repeatedly makes sound effects indicating disconnection and successful connection. My laptop is connected to the screen using a Type-C to DP interface, with the C port connected to the laptop and the DP interface connected to the screen. Under normal use, the screen is normal and the connection is stable. Only when the screen turns off does this phenomenon of repeated disconnection and connection occur. Therefore, it can be proved that the problem is with the screen

  2. Laptop External Monitor Disconnects and Reconnects Continuously

I have a Lenovo T520 laptop with integrated Intel HD3000 graphics card and a discrete NVidia NVS4200M graphics card as well. I have a Planar PX2710MW 27 inch monitor connected via VGA (the only option on this laptop) configured to extend the desktop . After
upgrading to Windows 10, both the laptop LCD and external monitor appeared to work as normal (still showing extended desktop). Unfortunately, after a couple of minutes the external monitor blacked out (disconnected - says no signal for a couple of seconds),
and then the laptop monitor resets with the full desktop showing. About 2 seconds later the external monitor reconnects and the laptop monitor resets and now the extended desktop is back. If this happened once it would have been ok, but it happens about
every 5 minutes (varies - sometimes several times a minute or can be stable for 10 minutes and the starts happening again). The icons also keep rearranging on the external monitor so sometimes they're on the left, sometimes on the right...lol. I have tried
updating the NVidia drivers to the latest (353.62), but no joy. I have disabled the NVidia card in the laptop BIOS and the problem persists with only the Intel HD3000 card active. Intel does not have a newer version of the driver available other than the
one included in Windows update at Windows 10 launch (9.17.10.4229 July 25 2015), so there is nothing to update there. Anybody have any suggestions? This is beyond annoying when you're trying to do anything meaningful.

    Thanks!

Primary monitor blacks out after disconnecting from external

    Hi Oscar,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community forums.

    • Are you aware of any changes that happened on the computer prior to this issue?

This issue could be due to the display setting corruption that only affected the primary display when disconnected from the secondary.

I suggest you to try the steps listed below and check if it works for you:

    • Press ‘Win + R’ keys on the keyboard together to open the Run dialog box and type the following into the Run box:
      appwiz.cpl
    • Uninstall Intel HD Graphics Drivers and exit
      Programs and Features.
    • Right click the Windows icon on the taskbar and choose
      Device Manager
      .
    • Expand Display Adapters and right click on
      Intel HD Graphics Display Driver.
    • Click on Uninstall and check the box
Delete the driver software for this device.

    • With the external monitor connected, reboot the machine.
    • Once the machine boots into the desktop, disconnect the external monitor and check if the issue persists.

    Hope it helps.

    Regards,

The issue of the external monitor repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting after the...

Why can't I add a different screen shot for my 2 monitors?

You may need to reinstall your graphics driver. But, before doing this please take notes of the following steps:

Disconnect all external monitors. Then open your display properties. While in your background properties, reconnect your monitors and see if it will list the correct monitors.

If reconnecting the monitors doesn't correct the list, please also check your device manager. Click on the search bar and type "Device Manager" and hit enter. See if there are symbols of question mark or exclamation point in your display adapters. If there is, please reinstall the drivers.

To Continue with Reinstallation follow the steps below:

    1. Download the latest Graphics Driver

    2. Disconnect all your external monitors from your VGA Card Adapters

    3. Uninstall Graphics Driver

    4. Restart your Computer

    5. Install the latest Graphics Driver

    6. Plug your external monitors then see if your dropdown menu will displays the correct list of monitors.
