RD black screen

Hi,

I have an Intel NUC 12 with all official drivers installed, everything is freshly updated.

Sometimes I can't connect trough Remote Desktop (I think when PC is in sleep) and I got error:

"The graphics display components in the remote session failed to start up. Error code: 0x12"

I tried to install another remote desktop software (JumpDesktop, Teamviewer) and they are working even when RD not. They wake up PC from sleep without any problem. So the problem is in RD, anyone knows how to fix this problem?

 

Black Screen Remote Desktop Error Code 0x3 Extended Error Code 0x12 Windows 11 Pro

Hello,

I couldn't find anyone else on the Internet having the same error/extended error combination.

The problem generally is solved after a reboot of the remote machine but it comes back after a while with black screen for a couple of minutes and then it exits with:

Error code: 0x3

Extended error code: 0x12

I already tried to deactivate bitmap caching and UDP, lower down resolution, etc.

I'm running the last build of Windows 11 Pro on both machines with all updates installed.

Any clues?

Remote Desktop Color Depth - how to adjust

1. Click on Start menu, then type in remote and click on the suggested "Remote Desktop Connection" => Show options / Display tab and the rest ones.

2. (It does not work on Win10 Home) Click on Start menu, then type in gpedit and click on the suggested
"Edit group policy" => Computer Configuration\Administrative Templates\Windows Components\Remote Desktop Services\Remote Desktop Session Host\Remote Session Environment.
