Hi all,I've had this error happen about 4 times now the past few days. I've done a CHKDSK scan and it picked up an error but couldnt fully fix it. It behaved itself yesterday but had another error now. My event viewer is filled with bad block error messages.Any other suggestions? I don't suppose a clean reinstall of windows 11 will work as its the hard drive. Thanks in advance.

    :)

  3. How to solve this error: Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

I too have been facing this issue of late. In fact, I did run CHKDSK C: /F /R and system prompted that it would run the same when system restarts, which it did and took over an hour to complete (didn't display anything on screen besides percentage completed.
Yet, after restart it showed no bad sectors on C: drive. In fact Event Viewer didn't have any entry of the CHKDSK command executed. As Windows 8.1 on my laptop had become extremely slow of late, besides hanging of and on (esp IE11), I had to reinstall the
OS from the Recovery Partition which installed Windows as provided when it was New. Now, just a week after all this, I am again getting the same error -

The device, \Device\Harddisk0\DR0, has a bad block.

Does the hard disk need to be replaced if such bad sector errors recur on Windows reinstallation ?

I am not a PC expert, and can only reinstall Windows afresh from Recovery Partition. I can't open the laptop (it's also under warranty).

Will be grateful if someone can advise what I should do to resolve the above issue. Thanks

    Ramesh
