Is it ok for me to delete the System, system64, and mono files which I believe were there by themselves when I downloaded the scp game, and now I don't play those games anymore. Is it safe if I delete the files? The files are on the d drive.

    :)

  2. Several files popped up in D: drive at the same time.

Recently I noticed that there were some new files/folders that popped up in my D: drive, which i only used for games and other big files. The new folders were “system” “system64” and “mono”. The new file was “mono.msi”. All of these were created at the
exact same time on April 11 2020. What are these from? I ran a defender scan and nothing came up.

  3. D drive

    Hi,

Based on the details you have provided us, it appears that there might be some corrupted contents on the said partition. We can also consider that this is caused by a virus.

For us to check if a certain virus is hiding your files, kindly follow the steps below:

    • Type Command prompt in the search bar.
    • Type-in the following command:

      attrib -h -r -s /s /d D:\*.*
    • Press Enter to execute the command.

If you think that there is nothing important stored in it, then we suggest that you reformat your D drive so that you can use the free space for important files.

You can follow the steps below to start with the process:

    • Click on the File Explorer.
    • Select This PC.
    • Right-click on your D drive, then click on Format.
    • Follow the on-screen process to finish formatting the partition.

Let us know how it goes so that we can further assist you.

System, system64, and mono file in my d drive

Odd system files located on the second HDD...

This is kinda an odd thing that happened to me...
I noticed that some system files (2 folders named "System" and "System64") are locateed on my second drive (2TB Toshiba HDD) although the OS is installed on the M.2 drive (System32, Windows and other folders are located there).
So my question is, can I move them to the M.2 drive, so that OS files would be located on the same drive ? Because at the moment, I can't boot my computer without having the HDD installed.

    PC Specs:

    • Windows 10 Pro, Build 22H2
    • Ryzen 3 3300X
    • GTX 1660 Ti
    • 16GB DDR4 RAM
    Storage:

    • M.2 Nvme SSD (256GB Adata) - This is the drive where my OS is installed
    • Toshiba 2TB HDD - This is the drive where those 2 folders are located ("System" and "System64")
If additional info is needed ask me, I'm looking forward to solve this problem.
