Windows 10: System Shut Down In Seconds

Hi. Like many others have reported, my Windows 10 machine shuts off by itself, with a nuance. The nuance being that I can’t get into the bios reliably. The machine shuts sometimes a few seconds after I push the power button. I hear clicking, the screen goes dark, and then it sounds like it is restarting but nothing appears on the screen. Sometimes I am able to sign in, but not long enougj to export anything easily or barely look at the error log. I’ve seen 1, 41, 16, and 7040. I can’t get safe mode or clean boot started. Last time I was able to check, the temps on the CPU and GPU were fine. I’

System not shutting down Windows 10

As per the description, I understand that when you select the option to Shutdown, only the display is going Off and the system is not shutting down. I suggest you to follow the steps provided below and check if it helps.

• Right click on Start and select Control Panel.
• Change View by to Large icons and click on
  Power Options.
• In the left pane, click on Choose what the power button does.
• In the right pane, under power button settings select
  Shut down from the drop down list.
• Click on Save Changes and close the window.

Windows 10 is unable to complete shut down

We suggest doing these troubleshooting steps below:

Method 1. Hard Reset

• Shut down your computer.
• Remove the cable and wires connected to your computer.
• Press the Power button for 10 seconds to completely drain your device.
• Check if there's any changes.

Method 2. Shutdown trick.

• Press Windows key.
  
• Press and hold Shift.
• Click the Power icon.
• Select and click Shutdown.

The issue might occur if the computer is not shut down properly. so, I suggest you to perform a power drain by follow the steps below and check if it helps.

• Shut down the Computer.
• Remove all power source (including battery if it is a laptop).
• Press and hold the power button for 15-20 seconds.
• Connect the power source and start the computer.
• After the computer boots to the desktop, suggest you to install all the pending updates.
