  1. Surround speakers setup - With phone link

Hello,I have a 5.1 Speakers setup, with a hub that can transmit left and right channels only.My Microsoft speakers layout in Sounds from the settings - is set to 5.1 - meaning that i get the left and right channels, subwoofer, and rear left and right speakers.for some reason, when using Phone Link desktop app, It sends the calls directly to the center speakers my guess that because the call is for mono channel, you send it to the only mono speaker on the setup - which is the center one - the problem starts when i wear my headphones - because it has only L/R channels.I have couple of option

Don't have 5.1 surround configuration in Speaker Setup

Hi! I'm setting up my first studio 5.1 surround system, but can't get Windows 10 to recognize a surround configuration.

In the Windows Speaker setup, I only see options for Mono and Stereo.

My soundcard is a Motu 828es. In my Motu settings, Monitor A is set to Analog 1-6 (5.1) and Drivers are up to date.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks!

    Good surround sound headset

I know you say you're not that guy, but stepping into the $250+ range really brings a change in build quality that might have you never having to buy another set. Otherwise, getting 6 speakers with decent sound in a headset is hard, and that's what you are asking for, and I have no suggestions, but just a bump up the list. *Stick Out Tongue Surround speakers setup - With phone link :p

5.1 surround sound not working :/

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to output 5.1 audio from your PC, the sound card of your computer should have the support for it. Not all soundcards can output 5.1 surround signal. However, you can try the following steps and see if it works.

    • Right click on the Volume icon (bottom right corner) and select
Sounds to open the sound Properties window.
    • Go to the Playback tab and right click on your 5.1 speakers and select Set as Default.
    • Right click on the speaker again and select Configure.
    • In the speaker setup window, select 5.1 surround and click Next.
    • Check all the checkboxes under optional speakers and click Next.
    • Check the checkboxes under Select full-range speakers if applicable and click Next.
    • Click the Finish button once the configuration completes and see if you get the desired output audio signal.
