  1. Strange Boot Process - Two Drive Needed To Boot.

Backround: All disks involved in this issue are SATA SSD drives.Yesterday when I booted up my machine I was given the message, "No bootable device, insert boot disk and press any key." I tried to fix it using automatic repair and then bootrec, form the command line, which made it worse. So I reinstalled windows on a new disk drive and reinstalled all applicationsthen downloaded all stored files from One Drive. I kept the old disk intact in case I needed something on it. After installation I left the old system disk in the machine planing to reformat it at some point. The issue: A boot screen

    Windows 10 Boot process

The best explanation I have read is this link on Quora, it explains each step of the boot process in detail. While it does not list all
the files executed - this would be not be the same on different systems, it does give an in depth explanation

Another thing you might like to look up is the difference in booting a BIOS based system as opposed to a UEFI based system -

Strange Boot Process - Two Drive Needed To Boot.

    Can't boot from DVD drive

Is your controller in RAID/AHCI modes? If so, the DVD drive will be listed as a separate device in the list of available boot devices, not as "CDROM". Remember that when setting boot device priority. Otherwise, read the manual to see which hotkey during POST brings up the boot menu that lets you select which device to boot from. Even here, the drive will be listed separately, and not as "CDROM".
