  1. Stop laptop display turning off when closing lid

Hi,I have a laptop connected to an external display via HDMI.I want to stop the laptop display turning off when closing the lid and everything moving to the secondary monitor. If I had a single monitor it's easy enough to stop the display turning off when closing the lid through power settings. However, with dual-monitors I cannot see a way to stop the laptop display turning off and just letting me close the lid.Can anyone help please?

    :)

Laptop, Dual Display, Lag with closed lid

    Hi,

I just bought some monitor to use with my Dell laptop and connected it through the HDMI port of the second graphics display. The problem is that when I close the lid, the laptop automatically turns off the laptop display and stops using the internal video card which leads to minor lag when using the new monitor with only the second graphics display being active.

    Obviously the solutions are:
    1) Somehow force the internal video card to still be used
    2) Stop the turning off of the laptop display when the lid is closed (I don't have such option in control panel -> power options)

Any ideas how to go fix this besides not closing the lid at all?

Have you tried right clicking the battery icon in the taskbar, then choose Power Options. On the left side you should have a menu saying "Choose what closing the lid does". Click that and choose what you want.

If you use a laptop it usually has a crappy graphics card and one that is better. I just found out that if you disable the crappy one the lag dissapears if you close the lid.

This is done in the device manager as well but it is underneath screen adapters (translated from dutch so not entirely sure) and you just click the crappy one to select it and then the little black arrow on top. And you confirm.

however this only works if you use one screen at a time and have to change it back to the original settings to use your laptop screen at all.
