  1. SSD having wrong size after cloning OS

Hello! So I cloned my OS to a new SSD. I've used the minitool partition wizard 10.0. The process was successful but the new SSD where I copied my OS is showing 2 partitions with the other one having a size double of its original size. I found some tutorials on youtube how to resolve it but the videos I got only works for unallocated partition. This new one is not unallocated and so I cannot resize it via the same tool. I will attach some screenshots so you can get the picture and also the link of the youtube vid I've wached. My new ssd is a 480 GB kingston drive while the I drive is the an

Moving to SSD. Clone or not to clone?

I kinda agree with you, but on a wholr, do not. While I have done things a bit differently than this specific situation, by installing Windows directly to the SSD, and cloning after, my testing shows that there are no issues doing this, very little that can go wrong, provided your system is stable.

There are certain features that must be disabled in this situation, like auto defrag and such, but even with a fresh install to the SSD, you need to take steps to ensure that you SSD performs properly, regardless of how the data got there.

Arming yourself with a bit of knowledge can go a long way.

Installing the latest chipset driver, and the RST Tools, will ensure optimal performance of the SSD. but rather than taking my advice, I suggest the OP takes a look here:

Keep in mind, also, Digibucc, that many retail drives include software and such that very specifically is to be used to ttranser the OS from an existing mechanical drive to an SSD, and if there really was alot fo issues stemming from the cloning process, they would not have packages like that, simply to eliminate tech support costs. While not the optimal option, cloning is NOT a bad thing, as long as you take the nessecary steps.

Cloned OS to SSD want to delete old OS on hdd

Not sure if this was answered(cant find 1) but recently cloned windows 10 from HDD to SSD. My HDD was setup as GPT and the partition was setup with the OS as almost the full 1tb size. I had and currently have alot of used space that i dont wanna lose if
it can be avoided. The whole cloning process was a pain having to move stuff to the ssd then partition the empty space on hdd the move stuff to the new partition until I had less than 200g with the OS still there so I can clone it onto ssd after cleaning
it. Os works fine(windows loads sooo much faster) old hdd works fine but wanna get rid of the old os on hdd without deleting anything else? Sorry so long and sadly I merged the partitions back to 1.

    Clone OS to SSD help!

My Windows 7 installation is 50GB in total size. Its currently on a 500GB partition of a Samsung 1TB hardrive.

I need to clone this operating system to the 64gb SSD so I can use that as my boot drive and I dont want to have to reinstall from scratch.

What is the easiest way to do this and will I need to shrink the size of the 500gb partition of the old drive to match the 64GB size of the SSD before I can clone it?
