    Sound won't play from a device when I launch games and change output device to that new...

    If I launch a game with my headset turned off, then turn the headset on while a game is already running, no sound will play. I must restart the game to get sound to play from the desired device.This happens with speakers, headsets, ear buds, etc. bluetooth and/or wired sound devices. Any combination of devices on/off before/after a device switch sees the same result. When a game is running and I want to switch output device from speakers to headphones, I must restart the game to trigger the output change. I've tried a few combinations of changing settings for default device, disabling devi

    Vista sound output to two devices

    Ive tried to search this up, but so far I haven't found good results.

    I have a Sound Blaster X-fi PCI-E and the Radeon 4890 HDMI audio for outputs.
    I have them both working separately on the audio devices list on Vista Home Premium.
    I FINALLY got screen cloning to work in games, but audio will only output to one or the other.
    This depends on what I have set to default.

    Is there anyway to get Vista to output all audio to BOTH devices?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Sound keeps playing from same output device even after changing default device

    After a Windows update last fall I have had issues with switching between my USB headphones and my desktop speakers, and the only way to get the sound output to change is by disabling one or the other. When both devices are enabled I can hear sound when
    moving the volume slider or playing a test sound, but if I change source of output in the lower right corner in Windows, nothing happens other than the new output source displaying when clicking the volume button. The sound keeps playing from the previously
    selected device until I disable it entirely. Then I have to use Sound Troubleshooter to re-enable it as it disappears from the list of output devices once disabled. I find this very frustrating and I hope someone can help me solving this issue.

    What to change for apps and games to access my input and output devices?

    Hello Yuan, welcome to the Microsoft community, I'll be happy to help you today;

    I understand that you are having problems with audio in games on Windows 11;

    What exactly is your PC model and manufacturer?

    If it's a desktop, what exactly is the model and manufacturer of the motherboard?

    Are you playing these games through Steam?

    If so, I recommend that you try to change the input and output devices on Steam;

    Launch Steam;

    Open the friends list and click on Settings (upper right corner of the friends list);

    Click Voice;

    Define input and output devices;

    Now check if the microphone works normally in games;

    See you soon!
