  1. Something went wrong, no need to worry, undoing changes Windows 11 error

Hi! I installed Windows 11 in December of 2021 via the bootable USB. However, every time my laptop says that it needs to update, it eventually says the error in the title. How would I stop that so updates would actually install because some software like OBS Studio doesn't work? Also, if the problem is that I installed Windows 11 via the bootable USB, how would I re-install Windows 10 without the USB? Lastly, is there a way I could keep the data on the external USB but still use it to re-install Windows 10?I really appreciate any help you can provide.

    :)

  2. Windows10 Upgrade from Windows 7(Undoing changes made to your computer)

Hi, I am getting this error (Undoing changes made to your computer) while upgrading Windows 10 from Windows 7.

    Below Steps I followed.

    1. Downloaded 'Create Windows 10 Installation Media' from below URL.

    https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows10

    2. Upgrade this PC now

    3. Installed Windows 10

    4. System Restarted and then followed this error(Undoing Changes made to your computer).

    Please suggest.

    Thanks & Regards,

Windows 10 update not working - partial update then undoes changes

Please forgive me and advise if posted in wrong place.

Windows 10 update not working - partial update then undoes changes

    Microsoft Windows 10 Pro Version 20H2 - build 19042 - 500gb Sata SSD - 16GB RAM

Downloading Update: 2020-11 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 20H2 for x64-based Systems Windows
Update: Error encountered. "Some update files are missing or have problems......

If I click Retry it will download 100% and ask for Re-Start.

Press Re-Start and it will begin to update until it gets to 30% then it will restart.
It will then continue to install up to 48% then restart again.

Then says "we couldn't complete the updates and are undoing changes"

It does this three times (three re-starts) before finally loading Windows as normal.

I have tried many of the suggestions found online mostly from a CMD point. Tried several re-sets for Windows Update but nothing has worked so far. net start bits - net start wuauserv - net start appidsvc - net start cryptsvc etc.... Have just run BAT file from this forum too, no change.

Would be most grateful for help with this.

    Thank you.

Window Update Undoing changes made to your computer issue

    Hi,

Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

In order to help you with the appropriate troubleshooting steps, pleas reply with the details requested below:

    • Do you receive any error message after Windows update?
    • May I know after which update do you see this message?
    • When you say, “this message appear about half and hour" does the computer boot to the desktop?
    • What is the make and model of the computer?

If the computer doesn’t boot to the Desktop, I would suggest you to refer the suggestions provided by DaveM121 replied on April 7, 2019 in the thread

'Undoing changes made to your computer' in Windows 10
    .

If you are able to boot the computer to the Desktop, I would suggest you to run the

    Windows Update Troubleshooter
    and see if that helps.

If the issue persists, I would suggest you to reset Windows Update components. Kindly refer the article by Sumit on

How to:Reset Windows update components in Windows
    .

You may also want to refer the steps mentioned in the article

    .

Note: While performing chkdsk on the hard drive if any bad sectors are found on the hard drive when chkdsk tries to repair that sector if any data available on that might be lost. Also, the last step in the article
talks about Clean installation, please do not perform a clean installation of Windows.

Let us know the results, we will be glad to help you.
