Windows 10: Some videos has their thumbnail/icon gone windows 10

this happened randomly, some videos just had their thumbnail gone and has the default windows video icon, i tried restarting file explorer and computer still the same, i also tried moving the video to a different place and also deleting it and restoring it from the trash bin, still the same. how to fixalso sorry idk how to delete this not found image on the right but on the left is an example of the "default windows video icon"

All icons & thumbnails gone in Windows Explorer & desktop


Hi all,

On turning on my laptop yesterday (for the first time in a couple of days), all my icons are now missing:





This also includes thumbnails, etc:





I have tried restarting / full shutdown a few times with no effect.

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Icon thumbnails disappearing

Thank you all for your replies! I realize I need to be a little more specific. bryangee733 I didn't know this until 5 minutes ago but your issue might be windows going into tablet mode? Wilfredo posted these links for me and they might help your issue.

My Fault I should of been more specific. My icon aren't completely disappearing, it's just the thumbnails but the thumbnails on everything. So on the desktop the icon descriptions are still visible but the thumbnails
are gone. That isn't that bad but when I look for video clips in file explorer I can't see which video is which because those thumbnails are gone too!

So my icons are still there and I can still click on them but when I need to scroll through hundreds of raw video files named "P10246whatever.mp4" you kinda need to see the thumbnails or else you're stuck watching
each one.

Does this sound familiar to anyone?
