Discus and support *Some settings are hidden or managed by your company in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; Did a clean install, same problem. It is a minor problem but still a problem in that it shouldn't be that way. Discussion in 'Windows 10 Support' started by alphanumeric, Apr 6, 2017.

Sorry then, I don't know. It worked for me on Pro - perhaps there is something else on Home that overrides it.

Normally you can just copy Pro registry edits to home and they work (I believe) but I've not got any experience of actually trying it as I've never had a Home version.

Hopefully someone else can suggest another way forward that actually works...

    Good luck with it *Smile

  5. The PC with the issue is running Education, which has Group Policy Editor. I posted on the Private Microsoft Yammer group, no answers there either. I'll just clean install Pro on this PC tomorrow or the next day, problem solved. This PC has Digital Entitlements for Home, Pro, and Education. switching versions isn't a big deal, activation wise.

I'm confused. You said you had the problem on Home. Then you said you installed Pro and it was OK.

Now you say you are running Education.

You shouldn't imagine switching to/from Education is normal tested behavior as Education a VL product. Pro normally isn't and Home never is. You can of course switch editions but it isn't really normal practice.

Clean install education and see if it is still a problem. I bet it isn't.

  7. No, first post I said it happened on two PC's running Education. And no such issue on my Windows 10 Home PC. Then latter on I just mentioned that Home doesn't have gpedit.msc. But that was because you had referred to Home in the previous post. Sorry for the confusion. I normally don't run the Home version at all but did this time around for testing. Usually I'm running Pro or Education, and some times Enterprise.

Sorry guys. Can't win 'em all.

Perhaps I did something else and forgot but it did go away and I thought it was that *Sad

  11. What settings screen did you see the message on? For most its on the Windows Updates screen. That's not where I'm seeing it though.

Fix for Windows 10 Home (version 1703, build 15063.413) lock screen message- "some settings are hidden or managed by your organization" - and greyed out options.

    1. Command prompt
    2. Regedit
    3. SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization
    4. Set NoChangingLockScreen to 0

    (This is in HKeyLocalMachine.)
I do not have a NoChangingLockScreen key at all but if I did I'd have tried this...
I found somewhere the suggestion to delete the key "NoLockScreen" in this location in the registry and that worked for me. This little gift from Microsoft seems to have come with the new build I got a couple of weeks ago.

I haven't read through this entire thread so I may be off base here but I wanted to post an observation I had regarding the "Some settings are hidden or managed by your company" notification.

I've never seen this issue before until I went ahead and told Windows not to download drives using the Local Group Policy editor. Upon doing that, and along with the next Windows Update, I got the some things are managed notification.

As an experiment, I went ahead and reset Group Policy to allow driver installs and once again, upon telling Windows Update to look for updates, the notification went away.

Point? If you've adjusted Group Policy settings, or perhaps tinkered with registry settings dealing with Group Policy settings you may get this notification. For me, this is a repeatable action where I can invoke the notification trough Group Policy altering's.

Currently I've got no such notifications on any of my 3 Windows machines, all running Windows 10 Pro x64, because I've not blocked driver updates on 2 of them, and the one I did (main rig), I reversed for this experiment.

    Just FYI.

Many of these reports came from users of Windows 10 Home which doesn't have the group policy editor...
