  1. [SOLVED] Display/monitor runs on CPU instead of GPU

Hello, I heard that if you set your display/primary monitor to run on the GPU, which in this case is my GeForce GT 820M, it will improve overall performance and/or make the display refresh a bit better. The problem is that I can not make my display run on the GPU, I right click on my desktop, press NVIDIA control panel, go to PHYS-X configuration, below "Select a PhysX processor" I use the dropdown menu and select my GPU GeForce GT 820M, then apply the changes. It will shows in the NV control panel as my display is running on the GPU, but when I right click on my desktop> Display settings

    :)

  2. How to use intel graphics card instead of nvidia when using external monitor ?

I have a LG external monitor with GSync and a Acer Nitro Laptop with Nvidia 1060t graphics. Whenever i connect my laptop to the external monitor and close the lid of laptop (2nd display only) the monitor and all the apps on Laptop start to run on nvidia gpu instead of intel cpu.

I tried to look many ways to switch to intel cpu or intel graphics but none of them work. Due to monitor and apps running on nvidia gpu laptop heats like crazy and fan start to run on full speed.

    Please suggest what to do.

Solved: Win7 no display signal on monitors

    Issue:

There was no problem on displays but I had to move the computer so I turned it off, moved it, and connected everything back. Only one of the monitor ports work now, but I've always used two monitors for this CPU. The CPU has the following ports: 3 display
ports (DP1, DP2, DP3), VGA, DVI. Previously the monitors were connected to DVI and DP3, but now only DP2 works. Connecting it to anyonther port doesn't send signal to the monitors.

DP1, DP2 and VGA are all mounted on the motherboard. DP3 and DVI are on a graphic card or something. To connect to a DP I use a DVI to DP adapter.

I have 3 different monitors with me and I tried the following combinations:

    • Samsung TV1: DP1, DP2, DP3, DVI. Only DP2 works.
    • BenQ monitor: DP1, DP2, DP3, VGA, DVI. Only DP2 works.
    • Samsung TV2: DP1, DP2, DP3, DVI. Only DP2 works.
    • Have tried connecting different combinations of 2 monitors or all 3 monitors connected at the sametime, but only the one connected to DP2 shows anything. Restarting CPU, turning off and on CPU, unplugging and replugging the power cord hasn't solved the
      issue.

    Drivers:

The drivers I've checked to see if they were updated: Communication Port COM1, PnP generic monitor, AMD Radeon HD8570, graphic card VGA standard.

    System info:

    Dell Optiplex 9020

    Intel i7-4770 3.40GHz, 16GB RAM

    2 identical Samsung 27" TV, BenQ GW2750

PS: the transparency of the taskbar and windows of the windows 7 theme (Aero I think it was called) also stopped working. Changing the themes hasn't solved the transparency issue either. I don't know if it's related to the no display signal or not, but it
    happened at the same time.

    Solved:

Grabed the CD with drivers and re-installed all the drivers. Could display on all monitors and Aero theme works. Second issue: Aero crashes when a monitor is connected to the port on the motherboard. Monitors connected to the graphic card don't crash Aero.
It seems to me that the problem is with the driver (Intel HD graphics 4600) or the motherboard (Optiplex 9020), no problem with the graphic card or its driver (AMD Radeon HD8570).

  4. [SOLVED] Display/monitor runs on CPU instead of GPU

How do I make the primary display adaptor as the dedicated GPU instead of the intel integrated on my laptop?

Thanks for reaching out! I'm an Independent Advisor and a Microsoft user like you.

To make the dedicated GPU the primary display adapter on your HP Pavilion 15-e033tx laptop, you can follow these steps. Note that the process involves both software settings within Windows and potentially BIOS settings, though the latter may not always be available on all laptops.

    Method 1: Using Device Manager

    1. Open Device Manager:
      • Press Windows + R, type devmgmt.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Disable Integrated Graphics:
      • Expand the Display adapters section.
      • Right-click on the Intel integrated graphics and select Disable device.
      • Confirm any warnings that appear.
    Method 2: BIOS Settings

    1. Access BIOS:
      • Restart your laptop and press the appropriate key (usually F2, F10, Delete, or Esc) to enter the BIOS setup. The exact key may vary, so refer to your laptop's manual if needed.
    2. Change Primary GPU:
      • Navigate to the Advanced or Integrated Peripherals section.
      • Look for settings related to Graphics Configuration or Primary Display.
      • Set the primary display to PEG/PCI or a similar option that prioritizes the dedicated GPU over the integrated one.
      • Save and exit the BIOS.
    Method 3: Windows Graphics Settings

    1. Open Graphics Settings:
      • Go to Settings > System > Display.
      • Scroll down and click on Graphics settings.
    2. Set Preferred GPU:
      • Under Graphics performance preference, select the application you want to configure.
      • Click Options and choose High performance to use the dedicated GPU.
    Troubleshooting

    • Check for Driver Issues:
      • Ensure that both Intel and AMD drivers are up to date. Sometimes, outdated drivers can cause conflicts.
    • BIOS Limitations:
      • If your BIOS does not provide an option to change the primary GPU, you may be limited to using software settings within Windows.
    • Windows Basic Display Adapter Issue:
      • If disabling the integrated GPU in Device Manager causes Windows to default to the basic display adapter, re-enable the integrated GPU and try setting the preferred GPU for specific applications instead.
By following these steps, you should be able to set your AMD GPU as the primary display adapter, improving overall performance and allowing for better resolution settings.

If the above steps aren't working, it's probable that your laptop doesn't have a mux switch.

Please do let me know if the method I suggested works for you or if you need further assistance.
