IDprotect not running "(General application error (the Smart Card service is down"

Let's try to make a user change to see if it works correctly below and if it doesn't work can you send me the event viwer logs?

Step by step Smart Card

Go to "Start", "All Programs", "Accessories", "Run". Type services.msc and press "Enter".

Locate the mentioned service, it could be "Smart Card Resource Manager", "Smart Card" or "Smart Card" depending on the system.

Access the "login" tab. If in "Logon as" the option "This account" is defined with a name other than "Local Service", delete the current content, type "Local Service" (without quotes), the password is "Local Service", press " To apply".

Go back to the "General" tab and try to start the service again.

If it is already correct, try to re-add:

on the "logon" tab, insert the windows user account and password (local administrator), apply, it will give an error, so I modified the login to "Local Service" and password "Local Service" (both without quotes), started the service again and try to install the application again.

To get the Windows Event logs:

In the Windows search bar, start typing: Event Viewer.

Click Event Viewer Application in the search results pane.

In Event Viewer, expand "Windows Logs" (in the left pane).

Right-click Application and click Save All Events As.

In the Save As dialog, ensure that the file type is set to Event Files (*.evt).

Name the log file "Application" and click Save.

Repeat steps 5 through 7 to get the System and Security logs.

Upload these logs to some drive(onedrive, google drive, dropbox or another) and send me a download link so I can review it.

 

Can't find SD Card Reader in Device Manager

Hi FriedMouse,

I'm having the same problem. I just tried going into the Services application and manually starting the Smart Card and Smart Card Device..., but the SD card is still not recognized and there is still no SD card reader driver listed in Device Manager.

Anyone have a solution?

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this issue.

Common causes for this error are the smart card reader driver does not correctly start the certificate propagation service or the driver of the smart card is not up to date or not properly installed. Here is some troubleshooting that you can try and should fix this problem.

Solution 1: Start certificate propagation service manually

1- Click on Start, search for the Command Prompt

2-Right-click on that and select "Run as Administrator"

3-Type this command and press Enter:

net start certpropsvc

4-When finished, close the Command Prompt and test your smart card

Solution 2: Reinstall the smart card driver

1-Download the Minidriver files from this link

2-Right-click on the CivMinidriver-1.2.8 64-bit.msi and select "Install"

3-When finished, click on OK and test your smart card
