Windows 10: Smart Card Cannot Perform The Requested Operation or the Operation Requires a Different...

Hi all,I have recently got a token key from HyperSecu ePass2003 and every time I try to use the certificate, Windows throws an error "Smart Card Cannot Perform The Requested Operation or the Operation Requires a Different Smart Card" Has anyone encountered this before and found a definitive solution? It is critical for me to get past this. Any help is much appreciated. thanks

windows 10 requires smart card for admin

I use a smart card to check email on a corporate server, so disabling the smart card service isn't an option, nor is restore point, as the only change I had made to the system was to use the smart card to log into the email server.

After using the card to log in (with no issues) I attempted to update windows and drivers. I am being prompted to insert my smart card before the installation can continue. I did not actively add smart card to my user account for admin rights, and do not
want to use a smart card to do so. I attempted to use the smart card to proceed with the update, only to have windows error out with "the smart card cannot perform the requested operation or the operation requires a different smart card." I only have one,
so it's not a confusion there. How can I go back to simply clicking "yes" or "ok" to do admin tasks?
