Windows 10: Show certain content on TV

Ok basically I've been thinking about getting a Android / Windows box for my live TV streaming but I've been told that RAM is key and they don't seem to put more than 2gb in boxes so what I now want to do is run a HDMI from my laptop (with 12gb ram) to my TV. My question is can I set Windows up to only project the streaming playing to the TV and leave me to use my laptop for other tasks?

N8 RCA Video out Cable ??

Ok I want to use my N8 to stream some content to my tv - but i dont have an HDMI tv. but i found this
RCA adapter for the N8 that is supposed to do this. My question is what content will this cable allow for me to display on my tv? Are their certain apps that will work while others
wont? The site that has it doenst seem to know anything about its details- I just signed up here hoping someone here has used this cable or can let me know if it will directly mirror what im doing or just certain apps will work.

 

Samsung Smart TV not connecting to PC

Its not streaming content to the TV. i thought i could stream the display of my computer to the tv, but because it doesn't show as a TV - it doesn't come up as a device to stream to

 

I am using an Intel Compute Stick as my HTPC. It's specs are really modest:



It only has a VPN client, Kodi (previously known as XBMC) and VLC Player installed, no other software, and fulfills all my HTPC and streaming needs. No issues, had one BSOD a few days ago but that was caused by a faulty driver of the VPN; the 2 GB RAM or quite a modest processor have never caused any issues.

I wholeheartedly recommend Intel Compute Stick.

If you don't get Intel Compute Stick or some other box, here are the basics:

When using multiple displays, most applications remember the display they were when closed. If you use for instance Microsoft Edge as your main browser for everything, start using another browser for instance IE for your video streaming services. Open IE full screen, move it to display 2 (TV), close it and open again; it will now open on display 2.

Now use IE to stream your videos, they will be shown on display 2 while you can continue browsing in Edge on display 1. The same if you use an application to stream: if you use for instance VLC Player for streaming, open it, drag to display 2, close it. Now it remembers it was closed on display 2 and will open on it in the future.
