Windows 10: set app from microsoft store as defualt for a file type

Discus and support set app from microsoft store as defualt for a file type in Windows 10 Software and Apps to solve the problem; I would like to set mpv as the defualt program for the avif file type, but windows doesn't allow me to open file location of the app and set it that...     set app from microsoft store as defualt for a file type


    I would like to set mpv as the defualt program for the avif file type, but windows doesn't allow me to open file location of the app and set it that way, nor does it allow me to search for the app I would like to assign as defualt for said file type.could you please xplain how I would go about setting mpv as defualt for image files?

    Hi James,

    Since running the troubleshooter for Windows app didn't work, we suggest resetting Windows Store by following the steps below to resolve your issue:

    • Type Apps & features on search box/Cortana and click on it.
    • Look for Microsoft Store app and click on Advance options.
    • Click Reset button and retest.

    Update us with the outcome so we can provide you further assistance.
