  1. Service Host: Connected Devices Platform User Service taking up 500MBs of RAM

Hi,I have a Desktop with windows 10 64Bit. Recently I've noticed on my task manager a process called connected devices platform user service that is taking up 500mb of ram. It is not taking any other resources but it is just annoying me that it is there even after restarting my PC. I've searched across the internet and found few people with the same issue but not really a clear answer on how to fix it or what it is exactly.Appreciate the help, thanks!

    :)

@glnz CDP is used for Xbox and such (from what I've seen). Check your services, and if it is set to Automatic, set it to Manual. This seems to eliminate 99% of the errors. Worth a try.

Don't want to necro or anything but I actually found out why that service won't start.Go to settings>privacy>general here most of you guys like me turned off "let apps on my other devices open apps and continue experiences on this device".This is what the service "Connected devices platform service" is connected to.If you turn that setting in Settings to on the service will work without an issue.I personally just disabled the service since it was like that in the 1511 build and I don't plan to use this.

  4. Service Host: Connected Devices Platform User Service taking up 500MBs of RAM

Browser /connection security, hosts file and DNS service

You're saying that Open DNS(and other services like it) house their own list of known 'bad' sites, and by using their DNS servers, it will filter out sites based on that list?

Would you believe I was already using Open DNS servers.
This means the hosts file is moot?

And furthering that, if there's any bespoke sites I want to manually add, I could do it through my router directly.

Thus I can empty my local hosts file and turn my DNS service back on?
