Send To Menu - Adding App's Shortcut

I managed to put WhatsApp shortcut in "Send To Menu"; to help in sending attachments directly from their folders. When I open the menu folder, I find the shortcut there, but when I try to R-Click > Send To a file, the short cut is not there in the menu. How can I fix this?

    :)

  2. How to pin app shortcut to desk top?

    Hi,

Thank you for contacting Microsoft Community.

I suggest you to follow below steps to change pin the apps on the desktop screen and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to perform the below steps to add the apps on desktop.

    • Click on the “Start button” and locate the App that you want to pin to Desktop.
    • Right click on the “App” and click on “More options”.
    • Then click on “Open File location” and right click on the app, click on “Send to” option.
    • Then select “Desktop (Create shortcut)”.
    • Go to “Desktop” and check whether the app is located or not.

Or Step 2: To add shortcuts to the desktop

    • Press and hold or right-click the desktop, tap or click New, and then tap or click Shortcut.
    • Enter the location of the item or tap or click Browse to find the item in File Explorer.

Hope this information is helpful and do let us know if you need further assistance. We will be glad to assist.

Adding shortcut icon to the start menu

My first thought was 'why does that need a registry key - surely one just adds a shortcut...?' So I tried that with a sc to a vbs script I use, and simply added it to the start menu folder at C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu, like so:

Send To Menu - Adding App's Shortcut 285026d1593078792t-adding-shortcut-icon-start-menu-start1.png

Then I rt-click on that (in the Start menu program list) and select 'Pin to Start':

Send To Menu - Adding App's Shortcut 285027d1593078863t-adding-shortcut-icon-start-menu-start2.png

Hey presto! (if 'Start' as opposed to the 'Start menu' was what you wanted). For some reason, it appears sc's to scripts (well, vbs at least) cannot be added to 'Start' in one step, as can sc's to executables. But then I tried with a sc to a Powershell script (.psi) and it simply opened in Notepad (or NP++), my default action. So I had to change the default action for a .ps1 to 'run Powershell', which meant finding the .exe down in Windows\System32\Windows Powershell, after which the sc worked from either the Start program list or 'Start'.

There may be a way to create a sc to a .PS1 that runs without making that the default action for all .PS1 files, but I haven't managed that.
<update>: create a sc to C:\Windows\System32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0\powershell.exe -file your.ps1 and that should execute regardless of default .ps1 behaviour.

I've no idea if this is any help to you, but I've learnt something! Martin

PS duh! I realise you want to add it to the very LHS icons, in which case I don't know, and can't see how from what I've read so far.

  4. Send To Menu - Adding App's Shortcut

Adding a Send to Location as a shortcut

Hello im trying to add a folder in the Send To option in the right click menu as a shortcut similar to the Desktop (create shortcut) option that's already in the menu. I know how to add a folder to the Send To menu but it makes the folder that I want to send to as a copied folder. I want to make the folder I send to as a shortcut so I can edit what's inside of that folder through the shortcut then delete that shortcut without losing the original folder. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
