  1. Semi-frequent BSODs Dump included

    Hello,

I was helping my friend troubleshoot her PC BSODing around 2-3 times per day, but there is only so much I can do remotely and without specialised knowledge. She says almost all of her BSODs happened while on MS Edge youtube; the ones that haven't happened while playing a game League and WoW. She has factory reset windows, checked each device manually in the device menu to see if anything didn't display "device working properly," is not overclocking, has tried sfc /scannow nothing came up etc. Anyways, she provided my a crash dump, hopefully this can tell someone something.

ETA: Some of the BSODs said "IRQL not_less_or_equal," "APC Mismatch," "Page Fault in Nonpaged AreaI think?"

  2. Frequent BSOD

    Hello,

As per the title, I am experiencing a range of BSOD errors daily. Perhaps once every 2-3 hours or so, and it seems to crash more often the more program I’m running simultaneously. Though this could be mere coincidence.
I'll list some of the recent error messages here:

    • Win32kfull.sys failed
    • System service exception
    • Werfault.exe failed
    • Page fault in non paged area
    • System thread exception not handled
    • Critical process died
    • Nvlddmkm.sys failed
    • Dxgmms2.sys failed
    • Unexpected store exception
    • Unexpected kernel mode trap
And I’m sure there are others I haven’t taken the time to log. Clearly something is seriously wrong.

    Troubleshooting steps taken include:

    • Updating gpu driver
    • Uninstalling 3rd party antivirus software

    As per this guide:

    BSOD Finding and fixing them

I'm including the following to help diagnose the problem:

    • recent .dmp files (only two appear in the minidump folder for some reason)
    • MSinfo output
    • System specs (should be in MSinfo. Ask if you require further details)

You can download these from my onedrive here:

Microsoft OneDrive - Access files anywhere. Create docs with free Office Online.

I’m not sure what troubleshooting steps to take from here, so any advice would be appreciated.

    Regards,

    Nathan

    Edit:

I've also taken the following troubleshooting steps:

    - Updated Windows

    - Updated device drivers, via SDI

    Hi Groggubus,

Welcome to the 10forums Semi-frequent BSODs Dump included :)

Please remove / disable items from the startup in taskmanager
These programs could interfere with the boot process giving you trouble and increase the boot time.

Daemon tools, Alcohol 120% and Power Archiver Pro uses SCSI Pass Through Direct (SPTD), which is a well known cause for BSOD's.
Please remove Daemon Tools and run the SPTD pass through remover.

    1. Uninstall Daemon Tools
    2. Download the SPTD standalone installer and follow these steps:
      • Double click the executable to open it
      • Click on the button shown below

    Semi-frequent BSODs Dump included [IMG]

If the button is grayed out, like in the image, there is no more SPTD installation on your system, and you can close the window

Please follow this suggestion for the BSOD
    1. Please open BitDefender and go to the modules,
    2. Go to the firewall settings,
    3. Uncheck 'Block port scans in the network',
    4. Reboot your system <-- IMPORTANT

    Frequent Memory Dumps

    Thank you for your response.

I have uninstalled cccleANER as suggested.

I have turned off real time scanning on McAfee Total Protection.

    A couple of questions:

    1. How can I check that I am not getting Memory dump files anymore? - they were detected by cccleANER
    2. How can I check that I'm not getting interference between Malwarebytes and McAfee? - i.e. I need to know what level of RAM?
    Thank you for your assistance
