Windows 10: "Select an App to Open 'UserName'" Shows Every Time I Log In

Every time I login, the select an app dialog shows up. The title at the top of the window reads "Select an app to open 'Username'". This can be reproduced by running '%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup' in the run toolbar. Since this behaviour started happening, a number of programs no longer start with my computer including MS Teams and the Bing Wallpaper app. Does anyone know how to fix this?

Can I customize the list of suggest apps in the "Open with" menu?

Word is not in the Open with selection list. He wants to add it to that specific .pdf Open with list.

Let me confirm that the apps or application that appears in the list of Open with depends on the selection and there usage. Sadly, we don't have any manual option for forcing this change that makes that app appears in the Open with list.



Suggest you to try using the app for multiple time, when you make selection with the Open with to see if it automatically appears for the next time.

Mail app will not open on 10041.

This is the suggested solution below if you haven't already tried it.

In this Windows 10 build 10041, the Mail, Calendar, and People apps may be broken due to a licensing issue with the Store Beta. To get these apps working again, you need to follow these steps:

• Open powershell as administrator
• Run the command Get-appxprovisionedpackage –online | where-object {$_.packagename –like “*windowscommunicationsapps*”} | remove-appxprovisionedpackage –online
• Re-install Mail, People and Calendar from the Store (green tile)
