Windows 10: SearchHost.exe utilizes dGPU on my laptop and prevents it from entering a power saving state

Hello,I have a 2022 Asus Zephyrus G14 Ryzen 9, Radeon 6700s running Windows 11. The system has ran great except for one annoyance that I encounter every time I unplug my system.I noticed that my system would stay hot and its battery life was hampered, and found out that SearchHost.exe was keeping my dGPU 6700s awake instead of allowing the system to switch to the iGPU. Once I end this task, the system switches to the iGPU, and from then on, SearchHost.exe opens on the iGPU. However, when I plug the system back in, it goes back to running on the dGPU. Power draw of dGPU when idle in laptops

I am interested in the power draw of the dGPU in laptops. iGPU is the primary GPU to which all monitors are connected and that makes me wonder what is the power draw of the dGPU with lowest clock profile when idling.

 

dGPU is listed as power saving GPU instead of iGPU

I tried it with Brave Browser first and then I tried different programs like Standard Notes, Notepad, Discord, and Google Chrome. All only list the dGPU.

It depends on the laptop and dGPU used. But most nVidia based solutions turn the dGPU almost completely off when it isn't in use, so the power draw would be effectively nothing.
