Sagemcom FAST3686 router - Apple Airport Express - open NAT.

    Hello

I have a Sagemcom FAST3686 router. I use it for my PC with cable and wireless for PS4, Xbox1 MacBook Pro, IMac, Sonos, and a lot of other stuff.

For a long time, I have had problems with a NAT3 and strict NAT in games. Both on the PC and on the consoles. Nothing have worked, port forwarding, MTZ or anything.

Then today I put my Apple Airport Express on the network. I put cable from router to the Airport and I still have the cable from the Sagemcom to my PC.

I have put the Sagemcom in bridge mode and disabled the wireless network in it. I have then set the Airport to DHCP and NAT.

Now I have open NAT on the PC and the consoles

But is this a correct setup? What about security?

I simply don’t understand why PC now have an open NAT, when it’s still cabled from the Sagemcom, that is in bridge mode now?

    :)

    E61: SIP NOT WORKING ?

Some new input, but many will not like it Sagemcom FAST3686 router - Apple Airport Express - open NAT. :))))

I have my E60 running on a WiFi network using voipdiscount but all other

providers i have tried work as well.

The solution is (what many will not like to hear) to use a wlan router from

apple computers where you can circumvent the NAT by simply unchecking

a check box, but without switching NAT off entirely.

Now many will say that they cannot force their boss or other hotspot admins to use

    an Airport router.

The solution was for me to buy about 12x12cm Airport Express, plug it into any

power supply box and use it as a subnet with WDS, then use that subnet which can

be behind a NAT PC based Router without problem, as the Standard AP in the SIP

    settings of your E60.

This problem with stun etc is in general a NAT problem and can be resolved on almost any Wifi router where you hava access, but with huge know how necessary and this does not help on the road.

Of course this does not mean that nokia does not have to come up with stun and/or

eci support for their phones and it does not help if a router is not set for WDS, but still

it makes it possible to use this phone with any AP you have control or which you

can ifluence somehow, i.e. at home, with friends, at work and wifi nets with WDS.

Further you can extend your WLAN with WDS, means that you can make calls from

the garden or from several floors lower or higher from where the router is by using this.

My point here is once more that albeit it is such a simple thing like an additional checkbox, apple once more did it while others don't care or sleep Sagemcom FAST3686 router - Apple Airport Express - open NAT. :))

Have fun and I hope that at least some of you can achieve better use of that great phone.
