After automatic update all personal files were deleted, windows 10

Ye I found some old threads that suggested the reboot thing, threads from vista and Win 7, but for me the files are just gone. Hard drive was almost at 40% went down to 10% filled. But really good that It solved it for you, perhaps something went wrong when
my files were about to be re-moved. Perhaps this problem is rare but it's worth some feedback since it's a big thing when it happens.

Hi,

did an automatic windows update last night and when I logged on this morning all my personal files, pictures, movies etc, including dropbox and googledrive were all deleted. Don't know if it has any connection but, that night I transfered all my old stuff
from windows.old folder to the knew ones, but seeing dropbox and google drive were deleted it's odd. I'm using a local account.

Don't have a hard backup copy of the personal files so is there a function in windows to roll back? Or should I just use recurva to recover.

And no you don't have to tell me about backing up stuff, I understand this, just want to know what happened, and raise awareness around this issue.
