Windows 10: RPC configuration for network shared printer Windows 11 23H2

Hi,I am referring to the post at Windows 11 Error message 0x00000709 when trying to install shared - Microsoft Community . For solution given by Ramesh Srinivasan below:Fix: Printer Error 0x00000bc4 or 0x00000709 in Windows 11I need clarification for the following given steps from the link above that is this need to be configured for both PC which are PC thatdirect connect to the printer via USB and share the printer, and PC that wants to connect to that printer ?

Windows 11 Add Printer not working for shared network printer

Hi,

I have just installed windows 11 after some intrepidation i am delighted with windows 11. So far all is working perfectly. Except one issue. we have a shared network printer connected to another PC. when i go to "Add a device" selecting add manually add a network discoverable printer. The printer shows up in the list. Select the printer then next a get "Windows dosen't have a network profile for this device" i have the latest updates and the network profile i have tried private and public, same result.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Windows 11 ver 23H2 file explorer, clicking on network it does not list other computers on LAN with shared folders.

Windows 11, the upgrade to 23H2 file explorer features: clicking on Network (this pc) used to list other computers on LAN (example NAS device with shared folder)

With the upgrade to 23h2 or subsequent kB patch, clicking on this pc-network no longer listing other computers on LAN

OK guys... I feel for those that continue to have issues with connecting to a shared printer from a Windows 11 client. Shame on MS.

For what its worth.... I installed Win 11 Pro on 2 more laptops today (Lenovo T460S and a Lenovo X1 Carbon. After setting up the network and joining the network group, setting up sharing etc... both computers failed with "Couldn't connect to shared printer" even though the printer could be "seen" by both.

The only change I made was to apply the suggestion made earlier. See below.

The supplied suggestion:

Start => Search => Local Group Policy Editor => Computer Configuration => Administrative Templates => Printers => Configure RPC connection settings => Enabled => RPC over named pipes => Apply => Ok => Restart your PC

After reboot both computers successfully installed the shared printer with no issues.
