Windows 10: Rolled back i7 pc to W10 and now DVD is missing

    Rolled back i7 pc to W10 and now DVD is missing


    I think the W11 or maybe another update is not letting my DVD's connect. They both have an exclamation mark in the device manager. I'm hoping there's a fix. The firmware is up to date and current drivers installed. The note in the driver info is that they both have errors in the registry.

    I suggest you to follow the below steps & checks if the issue persists.

    This issue might occur for the following reasons:

    • The installation DVD is removed during the setup process.
    • A low-quality DVD was used to create the installation DVD.
    • The speed at which the installation DVD was burned was too fast.
    • The DVD drive cannot read the media.
    • The ISO file is corrupted.

    DVD drive missing from 'THIS PC'

    Yes, I have tried uninstalling both the DVD/CD-ROM drives and the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers from device manager and rebooting. Not sure which controllers you are suggesting are missing. Also cleaned the laser.

    DVD Drive repeatedly missing

    Thanks for your suggestions.

    My PC is ASROCK ACPI X64 and the DVD drive is optiarc DVD RW AD 5240S.

    I have tried all your methods from 1 to 3 but none solved the problem.

    Method 1 Step 5

    Run as administrator not available

    Method 2 Step C

    Expand DVD/CD rom drives Not visable

    Method 3 Step 3

    Corrupted files found but not all fixed

    All updates have been installed.

    Any new suggestions?
