Windows 10: Resetting windows 10 from network when laptop is infected

Hello,I purchased windows 10 refurbished laptop. It is infected with Trojan. Windows defender is not able to remove it for some reason. The files dismiss.exe and few other system executables are infected by trojan. Maybe that's why. Fortunately I havent done anything on it so I can reset it. BUT since it's already infected, wouldn't doing reset from network would make downloaded files infected too? Laptop doesnt have CD drive but can I use usb drive to reset it?This of course assuming reset is only option.Thanks in advance!

Laptop won't show list of available networks

We suggest checking the list of available Wi-Fi networks on your laptop.

• Click the Windows logo.
• Go to Settings (gear icon).
• Select Network and Internet.
• Then Wi-Fi.
• Make sure the Wi-Fi radio button is On.
• Select Show available networks, then you'll be able to see the list of available Wi-Fi networks.

I was hoping someone could give me a list of step by step instructions you use as a guide to clean virus, malware...etc. so I can keep my PC clean if it gets infected.
